WAN optimization specialist Infineta has announced the availability of its Data Migration Accelerator (DMA), a pay-as-you-go WAN optimization service built around the company’s Data Mobility Switch solution.  Infinita’s DMA service enables enterprises to significantly cut rollout times for data center consolidation, cloud data migration and new data center application rollout times, resulting in reduced overall project costs.  The service accelerates traffic over WAN at up to 10 Gbps while expanding WAN capacity.

WAN optimization vendors have historically offered businesses long-term licensing options, forcing IT managers to purchase additional WAN capacity at great cost to complete data migration projects on schedule. The DMA service is now available and is offered as a 3-month initial rental with the option to extend the rental as necessary.

"Anything to reduce the amount of time, the cost and the risk associated with data migrations between data centers is a good thing," said Bob Laliberte, senior analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group, who said the Infineta DMA's " ability to accelerate massive data migrations and minimize the time to value for new data centers and equipment should definitely be welcomed by both enterprise IT and storage vendors."

While many companies require a long-term WAN optimization solution to help them manage the ever-increasing influx of traffic traveling between data centers, there are an increasing number of WAN optimization use cases where a short-term solution may be optimal from a financial and operational standpoint,” said Raj Kanaya, Infineta’s co-founder and CEO.
