How the Cloud can Enhance Application Recovery

This whitepaper, in the continuing series from SunGard, addresses the subject of cloud based application recovery. It is a look at the best practices that the data center professional should consider and why IT application recovery in the cloud makes sense.

The author begins by noting how the cloud has already strengthened the Recovery-as-a-Service (RaaS) model. However for all that the cloud offers, proper recovery still requires a certain application expertise, particularly, if the nature of the cloud platform is not well defined.

The theme of this white paper raises several important points but has an emphasis on what it takes to build a reliable cloud based recovery, modernizing data movement technologies, and how to select a service provider. In making a compelling point of choosing to outsource such an important area of data center control, the paper also illustrates how an optimal model would work.

As with the other papers in this series Sungard has offered a brief, information rich and easy to read whitepaper that brings common sense to an important subject.
