Riverbed Technology (RVBD) introduced Riverbed Stingray, a new software portfolio featuring application delivery controllers (ADC), Web content optimization (WCO) and Web application firewalls. The Stingray product family is an extension of Riverbed’s mid-summer acquisition of Zeus Technologies.
Complete Performance Portfolio
While much is taken from Zeus Technology, Riverbed molded Stingray to address customer needs related to the growing adoption of private and public clouds. Riverbed has also introduced cost-effective configurations with monthly subscription models to make Stingray accessible to small and medium businesses (SMBs) and enterprises. The product family is comprised of Stingray Traffic Manager, Stingray Web Application Firewall and Stingray Aptimizer.
Stingray Traffic Manager anchors the product family as a flexible, high-performance ADC that enables a single point of management for accelerating enterprise applications. It provides an advanced scripting and enterprise-level functionality for things like global load balancing, bandwidth management, rate-shaping and service level monitoring. Stingray Traffic Manager is available in virtual and software-based configurations in 1000, 2000 and 4000 Series models. Monthly pricing subscriptions start at less than $200.
“Riverbed is helping accelerate this growth as Stingray provides enterprise customers with a simple, yet powerful and flexible solution that integrates into their application stack and quickly optimizes and accelerates applications hosted in the cloud,” said Cindy Borovick, program vice president, Enterprise Communications and Datacenter Networks at IDC.
Web Application Firewall and Aptimizer
The Stingray Web Application Firewall is designed to provide security by protecting Web applications against threats and enabling businesses to meet their security compliance requirements, including payment card industry data security standard (PCI-DSS). It is available as an add-on that can be managed by Stingray Traffic Manager or as a stand-alone solution.
The Stingray product family is generally available October 25.
