Disneyland Paris Will Turn Server Heat Into Energy - Euro Disney, which runs Disneyland Paris, has partnered with French energy company Dalkia to collect and transmit to a nearly 6.5 million square foot heating network. The data centers producing the heat are in the Val d'Europe business park, largely owned by Disney, near the Disneyland Paris park itself. Dalkia estimates that the plan, set to start early next year, will save 5,400 metric tons of CO2 emissions each year. From TreeHugger.
NEXT DC Brisbane Facility Goes Live - Australian data center provider NEXTDC Limited (ASX:NXT) said that it has begun operation at its Brisbane facility (B1), the first in a series of facilities the company plans to bring online in 2011 and 2012. “I would like to congratulate everyone involved in this complex and challenging project, including NEXTDC’s technical team who displayed outstanding professionalism and dedication in delivering this enterprise-class facility in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD”, said Mr Bevan Slattery, CEO of NEXTDC. Interxion to Build Seventh Data Centre in Frankfurt - Interxion Holding (INXN), a leading European provider of carrier-neutral colocation data centre services, is building its seventh data centre (FRA 7) in its Frankfurt campus. The new facility is being built to meet the growing demands of customers who will benefit from Interxion's "Connectivity Hub" of more than 150 carriers and ISPs, making Interxion Frankfurt the leading option for connectivity-intensive companies, particularly in the digital media, financial services, and cloud service segments. The new facility will provide 1,550 square meters (16,600 square feet) of new equipped space and is scheduled to be available for customer installations in the first quarter of 2012.
