Roundup: FORTRUST, Interxion, Juniper, Intel

Fortrust launches managed cloud services, Interxion (INXN) recertifies Pan European ISO 270001, Juniper Networks (JNPR) selected by on-demand gaming provider OnLive, Intel (INTC) announces new solid stats driver (SSD).

Here’s our review of noteworthy links for the data center industry:

FORTRUST launches cloud service.  Denver-based FORTRUST announced the much anticipated launch of its Managed Cloud Infrastructure Services (MCIS).  Targeted for the enterprise, the MCIS solution will deliver an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform for on-demand computing and storage resources.  MCIS will offer a 100 percent SLA, security and governance compliance, along with the reliability that the enterprise needs to manage their critical applications. Components of the solution include private cloud services, hybrid clouds and disaster recovery cloud services.

Interxion re-certifies Pan-European ISO 270001.  Interxion (INXN) announced that it has achieved recertification of the internationally recognized ISO 27001 (Information Security and Business Continuity) standard for all 11 of its European country operations. The re-certification demonstrates Interxion's ability to provide an integrated solution for multi-country customers in 28 data centers in 13 of Europe’s leading business and consumer hubs. The ISO 27001 audit and certification process focuses on every aspect of the business, including physical infrastructure, site security and access management, personnel capabilities, communications and operations, legal compliance criteria, and back-up and disaster recovery systems. “Our customers can be confident in the peerless connectivity we provide because we offer a uniform, best-in-class blueprint in design, build, operations and service. Our successful recertification in ISO 27001 is further evidence of our commitment to providing reliable, secure best-in-class data centre services   to our ever growing digital media, financial services and cloud-based communities  .” said Kevin Dean, Chief Marketing Officer Interxion.

Juniper selected by OnLive.  Juniper Networks (JNPR) announced that OnLive, the pioneer of on-demand, instant-play video games, has upgraded its data center infrastructure with a simplified Juniper Networks architecture of routing, switching and security solutions. OnLive selected Juniper in its data centers to support massive amounts of bandwidth for voice, video and data from the cloud to customers using a simplified, integrated design that requires fewer devices and interconnections. "The number-one factor that drove us to Juniper Networks is the value proposition – the bang for the buck we get from our core routers, switches and firewalls," said Darrell Gentry, director of systems planning, OnLive. "Juniper Networks data center network architecture has enabled us to deliver a high-end gaming experience from the cloud simply and securely. Having a massively scalable network from Juniper Networks is the foundation of our continued innovation and success." OnLive will utilize Juniper EX4200 Ethernet Switches, MX960 3D Universal Edge Routers, SRX3400 Series Services Gateway, and has plans to further simplify their data centers with the Juniper QFabric solution.

Intel announces new SATA Solid-State Drive.  Intel (INTC) announced its latest solid-state drive (SSD), the Intel Solid-State Drive 710 Series, a purpose-built Multi-Level Cell (MLC) data center SSD and replacement for the Intel X25-E Extreme SSD. "The Intel SSD 710 Series gives enterprise data center and embedded users extreme endurance and performance, enabled by Intel's High Endurance Technology based on Intel 25nm MLC NAND technology," said Rob Crooke, Intel vice president and general manager of the Intel Non-Volatile Memory Solutions Group. "Intel SSDs are widely deployed in the data center due to their performance, reliability and value. Our latest SSD product family offers more than 30 times the write endurance of our current MLC SSDs, plus improved performance and new features, such as power-loss data protection and surplus arrays of NAND for enhanced reliability." At 100GB, 200GB and 300GB capacities the SSD 710 achieves write endurance of up to 1.1 Petabytes and is targeted for I/O-starved applications. It also includes increased reliability and security features. At the Intel Developer Forum last week Intel also discussed said the future of computing is being accelerated, citing the impact of multi- and many-core computing hitting the mainstream and new developments in extreme scale computing.
