Here’s our review of noteworthy links for the data center industry:
Blue Coat CacheFlow 5000 appliance. Blue Coat Systems (BCSI) announced its next-generation Blue Coat CacheFlow 5000 appliance, which delivers a significant leap forward in performance and capacity and three times greater throughput and cache storage than before. In a 4U footprint the appliance includes IPv6 support and the increased performance can be attributed to a new 64-bit software and hardware improvement. “The new CacheFlow 5000 appliance represents a tremendous leap in performance for Web content caching and can dramatically improve the service provider’s ability to keep up with the unrelenting demand for Web video while changing its economics,” said Steve Daheb, chief marketing officer and senior vice president, Blue Coat Systems. “By combining caching intelligence with a new level of platform performance, the CacheFlow appliance will better prepare service providers for massive increases in their subscribers’ demand for content.” The CacheFlow 5000 appliance is available immediately and existing customers are eligible for an in-rack upgrade.
Riverbed selected by Canadian Cancer Society. Riverbed Technology (RVBD) announced that the Canadian Cancer Society, Ontario Division, has deployed Riverbed Cascade application-aware network performance management (NPM) solutions for real-time network and application performance analytics with top-down visibility—from high-level business views down to packet-based transaction analysis. With 40 offices across Canada the challenge was to track and diagnose issues across their network. “Network issues that previously took days to troubleshoot now only take minutes, so issues are resolved before end-users are affected. Cascade allows us to deliver essential IT services to keep our organization running productively—all without increasing our staff,” said Gerald Holmes, IT director at the Canadian Cancer Society.
Juniper selected by Fiberlight. Juniper Networks (JNPR) announced that FiberLight, LLC, a premier provider of mission-critical fiber optic network services for enterprises, government agencies and wholesale carriers in 23 U.S. metropolitan areas, selected Juniper MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routers to deliver its next-generation dedicated IP platform. Juniper and IBM worked together to design a complete, open, pre-architected, pre-integrated and pre-tested infrastructure, based on Juniper’s MX Series edge routers. The package will allow FiberLight to have a single, consolidated network with its core fiber network bundled with high-speed Internet connectivity. ”With the combination of Juniper’s MX Series routers and IBM’s implementation skills, we have built an advanced high-capacity network that meets our current and future scalability requirements, while also delivering the flexibility that enables us to rapidly introduce new services,” said Judd Carothers, executive vice president of operations at FiberLight.
Solera integrates with HP ArcSight ESM 5.0. Solera Networks announced its enhanced integration with the latest version of HP ArcSight ESM , an Enterprise Threat and Risk Management platform, to provide visibility and context into network attacks, breaches, and insider threats. The Solera DS network forensics appliances include the DeepSee Suite of applications that provide fast, full packet capture, active reporting, records of every image for acceptable use policy management, and simplified root cause analysis workflow. “Our strategy has always been to support integrations with best-of-breed network security solutions,” said Steve Shillingford, President and CEO of Solera Networks. “Like a camera on the network, Solera DS Appliances provide a comprehensive record of what happened before, during, and after any event reported by HP ArcSight ESM.”
