Data Center Knowledge finds that data center scalability is the top concern for enterprise class data center operators.
In August of 2011, Data Center Knowledge surveyed its audience of data center operators on a variety of questions about their data center strategies and growth plans. One of the new questions this year asked about their key challenges and concern.
- Topping the list of their concerns was the issue of data center scalability followed by a closely related issue of data center capacity planning.
- Staying abreast of data center design and selecting the right technologies to run their data centers were the number 3 and 4 concerns.
- The number 5 and 6 concerns are running out of power and then running out of space.
All six of these issues relate to a central theme of planning for data center growth. More than half of the respondents surveyed reported plans to expand their data center operations in 2012. More and more companies are considering their data center strategy a key element of their corporate advantage.
The report includes good news for the data center services provider market, showing that 63% of data center operators are using or planning to use providers of colocation, managed and clouds services. This is a significant increase from previous surveys on the subject. It also reflects how the service provider market is well positioned to address the top concerns of today data center operators.
