Video: GM Unveils Plans for Data Center

GM recently announced plans for a new data center facility on its technical campus in Warren, MI. This local news station clip provides an overview.

U.S. automaker General Motors recently announced plans for a new data center facility on its technical campus in Warren, MI. The automobile manufacturer will invest $130 million in the renovation of existing facility as well as development of new space. The GM execs said this will mean consolidation of data storage and operations and it will support the design of automobile models and assist in expediting the process of getting the cars to market. They said the additional compute power will allow more 3-D animations of models as well as the ability of auto engineers to share designs with colleagues across the globe.
