Google network and data center chief departs - Vijay Gill – who spent three years overseeing Google's famously distributed backend infrastructure – has left the company, according to his LinkedIn profile. Gill's LinkedIn profile indicates he left Google last month, and his current job is listed as "Engineering Director" at "TBD" in "internet industry." In an update, The Register reports that Gill has moved to Microsoft. Vijay takes issue with the thrust of the Register article, and responds on his blog.
Why Dell acquiring Brocade would be a Bad Idea - From the Wikibon blog: "There are some rumors today emanating from the financial community about Dell potentially acquiring Brocade. The Brocade acquisition rumor happens once every few months, and Dell always gets included in the bucket of viable acquirers. However, if I am Dell, it just doesn’t make sense to spend in the neighborhood of $5 billion to buy Brocade."
