Hurricane Electric expands IPv6-ready network to Japan, Contact Solutions deploys infrastructure with Equinix (EQIX), Latisys selected by InnovoCommerce.

Here’s a roundup of some of this week’s headlines from the data center and hosting industry:

Hurricane Electric expands network to Japan. Hurricane Electric announced that they have significantly expanded their network reach in Asia with connections to the Japan Network Access Point (JPNAP) and the Japan Internet Exchange (JPIX). The expanded connectivity provides reduced latency and improved fault tolerance as well as expand the reach of their next-generation IPv6 Internet infrastructure and services.“With the Asia Pacific Network Information Center (APNIC) out of conventionally allocated IPv4 addresses, these connections will allow new and existing customers in Japan to receive the IPv6 functionality they are demanding," said Mike Leber, President of Hurricane Electric. The Japan announcements follow other global expansions to the Equinix Paris Exchange and March expansion at Telehouse Paris.

Equinix selected by Contact Solutions.  Equinix (EQIX) announced that Contact Solutions, a leading provider of on-demand contact automation solutions including IVR, email/text messaging and web transactions for business and government, has expanded its deployment with Equinix to collocate in its data center in Atlanta, AT1. Contact Solutions has also deployed equipment at Equinix data centers in Dallas, Ashburn, and Silicon Valley.  "Contact Solutions is experiencing continued growth and expansion as a result of our ability to provide secure, reliable IVR solutions on Platform Equinix. This is now our fourth deployment and is a testament to the trust we have in Equinix to enable us to provide our customers with the best services and end-user experience,” said Mark Whittle, COO Contact Solutions.

Latisys partners with InnovoCommerce.  Latisys announced that InnovoCommerce, a provider of Microsoft SharePoint-based solutions, will leverage Latisys' attainment of EU Safe Harbor Certification to support the rigorous requirements for managed hosting and data privacy of European pharmaceutical and life science-focused enterprises. “As life sciences firms turn to cloud applications for regulatory compliance and improved business productivity, there exists a significant need – and opportunity – for managed hosting providers that can preserve data privacy whether the information is stored in the U.S. or European Union,” said Tom Panarisi, Regional VP - West, Latisys. “Our Safe Harbor self-certification and growing partnership with a proven business collaboration solutions provider like InnovoCommerce creates a powerful offering for firms with international operations.”
