Back in 2006, HP announced plans to transform its in-house IT infrastructure by consolidation more than 80 legacy data centers into six brand new facilities in three cities – Atlanta, Houston and Austin. What do those facilities look like? In this video, HP offers an overview of operations at its data center in Suwanee, Georgia, which was the first new facility built in the consolidation. The Suwanee location is paired with a similar data center in Alpharetta, another Atlanta suburb. This video runs about 3 minutes, 20 seconds.
This wasn’t the company’s last consolidation. In 2010 HP announced plans to consolidate facilities in HP Enterprise Services (formerly EDS), which it acquired in 2008.
