Sold state Flash storage is a technology that has seen strong adoption in consumer devices like the iPad, and is now making its way into servers in data centers. One of the companies in this sector that has attracted a lot of buzz is Fusion-io, which makes ioDrives – flash-based storage that plugs into a PCIexpress slot on a server motherboard and offers performance advantages over disk-based storage. In this video interview from last week’s GigaOm Structure Big Data conference, Fusion-io Vice President of Product and Technical Marketing Gary Orenstein discusses the benefits of flash storage and provides an overview of the market and some use cases.
