The WHIR Acquired by iNet Interactive
The Web Host Industry Review has been acquired by iNET Interactive, which will add the hosting industry publication to a business portfolio that also includes the WebHostingTalk forum and HostingCon trade show. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The WHIR was started in 200 by founder and publisher Stephen Mayhew as a news web site, and added a print publication in 2004. It recently launched The WHIR Networking Events, one-day networking events offering business development opportunities for industry executives. After a brief transition, Mayhew will leave the WHIR to focus on other business interests, the companies said.
“Not only have we added a great property that perfectly complements our existing hosted services portfolio, we’ve also added great people,” said Troy Augustine, iNET’s president and CEO stated. “The WHIR’s editorial and sales talent will have a beneficial impact throughout the company; and the combination of the WHIR, Web Hosting Talk, and HostingCon opens up some very exciting opportunities.”
Founded in 2002, iNET Interactive operates a network of web sites focused on the hosting and web development industry, including HotScripts.com, WebHostingTalk and a number of hosting directories and advertising platforms.
