TDS Telecom will expand the TEAM data center in Madison, Horizon Data Center Solutions preps for federal "Cloud First" initiative, Data Realty plans data center in South Bend, Indiana.

  • TDS Telecom to Expand TEAM Data Center in Madison - TDS Telecommunications Corp. has announced the start of a $14 million data center expansion at its TEAM Companies data center in Madison, Wis. The project, slated to begin this spring, will double the capacity of the facility and bring total sellable square footage to approximately 15,000 sq. feet, making it the largest commercially available Tier III data center in the region. “Our investments will help other high-tech businesses grow as they look to secure important elements of their IT infrastructure,” commented David Wittwer, president and CEO of TDS Telecommunications Corp. “A strong data center like ours enhances the region’s ability to maintain and attract new businesses.” Press release.
  • Horizon DCS Preps for Federal "Cloud First" Initiative - Dallas-based Horizon Data Center Solutions is finalizing the additional staffing and other preparations to provide cloud computing services for federal agencies that will embrace the government's Cloud First mandate. Upon conclusion of the rigorous FISMA Assessment & Accreditation process, Horizon is ready to take on its piece of the General Service Administration's Federal Government Cloud initiative as the Enterprise IaaS partner to Eyak Technology. EyakTek and Horizon are one of just three teams that were awarded a Blanket Purchase Agreement across all three aspects of the requirement: virtual machines, hosting, and storage. Press release.
  • Data center Planned for South Bend, Indiana - The City of South Bend has reached an agreement to sell land in Ignition Park to a private company that will build a nearly 50,000-square-foot data center – the first private, high-tech business in the technology park. Data Realty LLC, a startup company based at Innovation Park at Notre Dame, will break ground this spring for a Tier III data center serving small to mid-sized businesses in South Bend and throughout the Midwest. Construction may take about 14 months. The data center will be built at Ignition Park’s eastern end on a 4.94-acre site (along Franklin Street between Garst and Stull streets), immediately northwest of the Transpo facility. Data Realty’s site will accommodate a future 40,000-square-foot addition. Press release.
