Roundup: Abovenet, Nimsoft, BlueArc

AboveNet (ABVT) closes on $250 million credit line, Nimsoft selected by ITS InfoCom, BlusArc announces System Software 8.

Here’s a roundup of some of this week’s headlines from the data center and hosting industry:

AboveNet closes on $250 million. AboveNet (ABVT) announced it has closed a new five-year $250 million senior secured revolving credit facility.  The purpose of the credit facility is to provide the company with funds for general corporate purposes and to repay the company’s existing credit facility. Joe Ciavarella, AboveNet’s chief financial officer, said, “The new revolving credit facility gives us the continued flexibility to be able to execute our growth plans at attractive rates.  We appreciate the support of the lenders who are participating in this facility.”

Nimsoft selected by ITS InfoCom. Nimsoft announced that multinational IT solutions company ITS InfoCom has deployed the Nimsoft Monitoring Solution (NMS) to monitor its clients' infrastructures. ITS will consolidate the functionality of multiple monitoring tools into a single solution, significantly reducing the operational overhead associated with managing those tools and allowing staff resources to be allocated to other critical tasks. “Improving our monitoring capabilities with NMS has allowed us to significantly improve the cost/benefit ratio we offer our clients,” said Alex Gonzalez, ITS InfoCom corporate operations director.  “Since implementing NMS and migrating our installed base to the solution, we have reduced new client set up time by 50% while lowering ongoing monitoring platform management costs by 35%.”

BlueArc announces System Software 8. BlueArc announced BlueArc System Software 8, which includes the latest iteration of its advanced file system that delivers performance and scalability benefits. The new release introduces new cloning and high-speed replication features for maximum efficiency in performance, space and data protection. New to version 8 is a feature aimed at virtual environments - JetClone, a storage optimization solution without the size limitations inherent in competing cloning software. JetMirror is for high-speed replication and will reduce the time needed to replicate large, complex file systems. “One of the main reasons users don't take more snapshots is because it consumes too much capacity. BlueArc solves this problem with their writable snapshot technology, enabling users to take as many as they want for data recovery and cloning VDI and server virtualization environments," said Tony Asaro, senior analyst and founder of INI Group.
