A look at the 12-foot by 7-foot touch screen data center demo created by io Data Centers.

Instead of hauling a 40-foot long modular data center to a trade show, i/o Data Centers is taking a high-tech approach to customer tours of its i/o Anywhere modular data center. Thel i/o team has created a 12-foot by 7-foot touchscreen video wall to provide interactive tours of the company's facilities. Selecting a "hot spot" pops up a virtual data center, complete with cross sections and product info, following the concept of the touch screens in the sci-fi movie "Minority Report." You can see the technology at work in this video demo from Jason Ferrara of i/o Data Centers. This video runs about 3 minutes, 30 seconds.

i/o Data Center has also used Microsoft Surface to create a table-top data center tour. Some providers have used scaled-down models to provide an overview of their container products at conferences. And yes, sometimes companies bring the real life-size, multi-ton container onto a conference expo floor.
