It’s been a busy day for data center news announcements from Europe and Australia. Here’s a roundup:
Interxion Will Expand Second Dublin Data Centre  – Interxion, a leading European provider of carrier-neutral colocation data centres services, today announced the expansion of its recently opened Dublin 2 data centre. The expansion of the facility is in response to consistently rising demand from colocation customers, in particular customers in the fast-growing digital media, carrier and cloud service sectors. Including the investment made to build and equip the new data centre, this latest expansion brings Interxion’s total investment in the new facility to EUR 13 million in the last 18 months. The new phase of Interxion’s data centre will provide an additional 900m2 of net space, increasing Interxion’s overall capacity to 1,700m2 of equipped space. The project also includes the delivery of an additional 1200kW of high-density power to the site.
Capital Tool Chooses The Bunker  – Capital Tool Company has chosen The Bunker to provide secure hosting for the web based receivable management and finance platform TREFI. “Security is extremely important to our high profile clients including banks, large corporations but also SMEs,” said Rob Grimberg, Managing Director at Capital Tool Company .”We needed transparency of the services offered, with a flexible and ultra secure solution. The Bunker is the perfect data centre partner for us.”
Outsourcery Selects TelecityGroup PowerGate Centre  – Outsourcery, an independent provider of unified communications and cloud solutions, has selected TelecityGroup’s state-of-the-art Powergate facility as its primary data centre. The decision will guarantee the availability of Outsourcery cloud services to its customers – including infrastructure, applications and storage – maximizing resiliency and business continuity. Outsourcery is currently experiencing 100 percent year-on-year growth, and made the decision to use a third-party data centre provider to ensure its infrastructure can scale to cope with such increasing demand.
Power Efficiency Helps Sentrum Save on Power  – Power Efficiency, the UK’s leading energy procurement and carbon strategy consultancy, says it has secured a £4.2 million annual electricity cost saving for leading UK data centre provider, Sentrum. The savings were achieved through a series of negotiations regarding securing access to a new energy supply contract which would enable Sentrum to benefit from wholesale energy pricing and also remove any penalties typically associated with levels of consumption increasing.
Harbour MSP Signs Up with NEXTDC  – Australian data center provider NEXTDC Limited says it has an agreement with Harbour MSP, which will be its first and anchor customer at its state-of-the-art Melbourne data centre facility. “We are delighted to sign an agreement with Harbour MSP for 1,000m² data centre space at our purpose-built Melbourne facility,” said Bevan Slattery, CEO of NEXTDC. “Harbour MSP is well known for their outstanding IT services and hosting capability in the Australian marketplace and their selection of NEXTDC’s upcoming Melbourne facility provides them access to what we believe will become Melbourne’s premier data center facility.”
