Kansas City data center hub 1102 GRAND is expanding its colocation area, adding 5,000 square feet of additional caged space for carriers, service providers and enterprise customers. The new colocation room is projected to be completed by the end of 2010.

1102 GRAND's most recent expansion, which was opened in the spring of 2010, is half leased. With several additional deals currently in final negotiations, the building's operators decided it was time to expand.

"We continue to see consistent demand across the SMB and enterprise sectors along with increasing activity among carriers and service providers," said Darren Bonawitz, co-owner of 1102 GRAND. "This new colocation expansion will appeal to customers that are looking for their own private space without the upfront capital expenditure or ongoing maintenance costs."

1102 GRAND is a Midwestern internet hub and network neutral colocation facility .The building’s owners have invested nearly $7 million since purchasing the building four years ago. Previous improvements included the connection to two Kansas City Power & Light power grids, completely replacing the entire primary electrical infrastructure, installing redundant cooling towers, and developing a carrier neutral Meet Me Room.
