When Venus Williams or Rafael Nadal hit a winner at the U.S. Open, the tennis tournament's technology infrastructure gets into the action. The chair umpire uses a handheld device to note the winner of the point, which instantly updates scoreboards around the tennis center, across the Internet and on mobile apps.
