Here’s a roundup of some of this week’s headlines from the data center and hosting industry:
U.S. DoD certifies Juniper routers, switches and VoIP. Juniper Networks (JNPR) announced that several of its routing, switching and circuit-to-packet solutions have been tested and certified by the U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) for interoperability with Defense Department networks and have been added to the Unified Capabilities Approved Products List. Several products including EX and MX series switches and routers made the JITC list, following other Juniper SSL VPN solutions added previously. “More network managers and agency executives realize the extensive testing procedures of certifying bodies such as JITC help ensure their own networks are capable of delivering high performance, security and reliability in increasingly demanding networking environments,” said Brian Roach, vice president, Federal, at Juniper Networks.
Active Power reports growth in Italy. Active Power (ACPW) announced that they have been chosen to protect mission critical systems by several organizations located in Italy. Their flywheel based CleanSource UPS systems have sold well in the European market this year. The newly delivered systems in Italy account for nearly three megawatts of critical power protection and are being delivered to a government organization in Rome, a manufacturing facility and a hospital in Tuscany. “Our UPS is extremely rugged and can operate in a wide range of ambient temperatures as compared to conventional technology,” said Dietmar Papenfort, vice president Sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa and Asia Pacific at Active Power. “We expect to capitalize on our success here and continue to grow our sales and customer footprint throughout Europe.”
