SoftLayer Opens New Headquarters

SoftLayer hasl moved its headquarters and expanded data center operations to this Digital Realty Trust building in Dallas.

IT infrastructure provider SoftLayer Technologies has moved into its new corporate headquarters, and is now the sole occupant of a three-building complex in North Dallas. Three new data center pods spanning the ground floor of the complex are nearing completion and will be brought online in the coming weeks.

The new campus illustrates the strong growth for SoftLayer, which was founded in 2005 and had revenues of more than $80 million in 2009. Last September the company closed on $20 million in senior notes from a private investment group, and later added another $10 million.

The new headquarters complex spans more than 120,000 square feet, and will provide offices and workspace for more than 300 employees, along with more than 30,000 square feet of data center space and a Global Network Operations Center to monitor all SoftLayer facilities

“I’m proud to have the SoftLayer flag flying outside this great facility. Our team worked hard to plan and prepare this space for the needs of our rapidly growing company,” said Lance Crosby, Chief Executive Officer for SoftLayer. “This has been and will continue to be a big year for SoftLayer. Our new headquarters is the perfect hub for what will be considerable expansion of our services and operations.”

The facility was redeveloped for and leased to SoftLayer by Digital Realty Trust (DLR).

“We’re thrilled with this place,” said Crosby. “And, having data center space here onsite, we look forward to showcasing our innovations right where we develop them.”

SoftLayer continues to operate data centers at the Infomart in Dallas as well as in Seattle, Washington and the Washington D.C. area, with network Points of Presence in seven additional U.S. cities.

SoftLayer has been posting video updates of its data center construction process on its YouTube channel. Here’s the most recent update from SoftLayer Chief Strategy & Marketing Officer George Karidis:
