Andrew Fanara Departs EPA

Andrew Fanara, who has been the Environmental Protection Agency’s primary liaison to the data center industry, is leaving the EPA to take a private sector job. Fanara is joining OSISoft [1], which makes infrastructure management software for manufacturing companies and data centers.

Fanara has been the face of the government at many data center conferences in recent years, and has worked closely with the industry to develop and implement the Energy Star for Enterprise Servers [2] program launched last year as well as the Energy Star for Data Centers [3]standard, which is scheduled to be take effect in June.

“Many data center insiders are sad to see Andrew leave the EPA, but I see this as a great step in knowledge sharing,” writes Dave Ohara [4], who was the first to note Andrew’s shift. “There will be new people who will take over Andrew’s responsibilities and energy efficient data centers will continue with future specifications for storage and data center buildings. Andrew will take what he has learned at the EPA, and apply it to private industry.”
