Here’s a roundup of some of some of this week’s headlines from the data center and hosting industry:

CoSentry opens Nebraska data center. Data center and managed services provider CoSentry announced the opening of The Midlands, their fourth data center, in Papillion, Nebraska.  An opening ceremony for the 68,000 square foot facility was held January 21. Designed by Morrissey Engineering, the facility addresses dual power grids, energy efficient cooling and LEED standards. "These data centers must balance extreme density computing environments with the economic requirements to be as energy efficient as possible," said CoSentry president and CEO Mike Steffan. "They also are designed to meet business performance goals which require the resiliency to withstand the region's most extreme weather conditions and power disruptions."  CoSentry operates data centers in Omaha, Kansas City and Sioux Falls.

Tata Communications unveils largest Indian data center. Tata Communications announced the availability of a 55,000 square foot data center in Pune, India.  Residing on the Tata Tier-1 IP backbone, the facility will offer colocation, managed hosting and storage, and security and CDN services. With over 1 million square feet of data center space across 42 facilities worldwide, Tata Communications is the largest player in the data center business in India.

nlyte Software joins Green Grid. nlyte Software announced its membership in The Green Grid, a global consortium dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centers.  Membership will allow nlyte to collaborate with others in the data center industry as well as reinforce the company's position as a pioneering Green IT company.  The nlyte Software DCPM (data center performance management) utilizes extensive modeling to assess the impact of data center changes on power consumption, cooling and space - all before the change is made.

SGI launches global channel network program. SGI announced its global channel network program, designed to drive profitable business growth for resellers by maintaining a limited set of specialized partners, bringing differentiated solutions to market, and delivering a comprehensive program designed to protect partner investment.  "In today's hypercompetitive marketplace, we are committed to providing our channel partners with leading differentiated solutions, tools and resources they need to grow a profitable business," said Alison Ryan, vice president of channel sales at SGI.  The SGI channel newtork program benefits include a partner portal, opportunity registration, qualified lead distribution, quote configurator, joint sales engagements, and joint go-to-market campaigns and events.
