Qwest Opens CyberCenter in Albuquerque

Qwest Communications (Q) will open a new CyberCenter hosting facility in Albuquerque, new Mexico, the company announced today.

Qwest Communications (Q) will open a new CyberCenter hosting facility in Albuquerque, new Mexico, the company announced today. The facility, the 16th in Qwest's nationwide network of data centers, is open for customers as the company continues a build-out to a final total of 14,000 square feet of space next year. The company will use the new data center to host customers' disaster recovery operations, complex Web sites, applications, databases and data storage.

"The Albuquerque CyberCenter represents an important phase of our commitment to invest more than $250 million in New Mexico," said Loretta Armenta, Qwest New Mexico state president. "Our CyberCenters offer customers a compelling alternative to taking on the considerable expense of building, maintaining and staffing their own data center," added Chris Ancell, executive vice president of Qwest Business Markets Group.

With the addition of Albuquerque, Qwest’s 16 CyberCenters are located in 12 metropolitan areas including Denver.; Burbank, Sacramento and Sunnyvale, Calif.; Chicago; Columbus, Ohio; Minneapolis; Newark, N.J.; Seattle; Sterling, Va. and Tampa, Fla.
