GoGrid's John Keagy on Cloud Pricing
September 9th, 2009 By: Rich Miller
ServePath/GoGrid founder and CEO John Keagy was among the speakers at the recent Cloud World/Open Source World conference. Video blogger Barton George caught up with John at the show to discuss some of his views on the industry, including his expectation that the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) space will see prices drop as the competition heats up. This view is interesting in light of the subsequent launch of vCloud Express, in which several VMware partners are offering IaaS services at or below Amazon’s pricing. This video runs about 6 minutes.
Nice interview Barton. When you asked an important question “what’s the biggest barriers of adoption” I don’t believe it has anything to do with outsourcing. The industry got over that years ago when this business become more and more software managed.
The problem with the cloud and the providers are not saying it, is Security. As in this interview not one time was security mentioned. It’s a huge problem and is making news everyday. Companies won’t care if it goes from $0.10 per hour to $0.0001 per hour if they can’t protect their information.
