Managed hosting and content delivery specialist EC Suite will be the first tenant in the Phoenix NAP, a new 160,000 data center facility in Phoenix, the companies said this week. EC Suite will locate its network operations center (NOC) and managed servers at the building, and will also partner with Phoenix NAP to market data center space.
"The move to Phoenix NAP as an anchor tenant enables us to analyze the different power needs of each client and build hosting solutions accordingly,” said Dave Wales, senior director of sales for EC Suite, which is based in Tempe, Arizona. “The unique scenario this affords will not only help us continue growing our colocated and managed hosting services, but also expand our bandwidth, CDN and payment processing solutions.
The Phoenix NAP is located at 3402 East University Drive in Phoenix. The building previously served as the headquarters for life sciences company EaglePicher, which relocated to Michigan as part of a bankruptcy reorganization in 2005.
The project is being developed by Global Datacenter Trust, which liked Phoenix market because it is well positioned to avoid most natural disatser scnearios, including earthquakes, hurricanes and tornadoes.
“Phoenix is an ideal location for a datacenter, not only because it’s in a disaster-free area, but also because the city and workforce are highly supportive of the high-tech industry,” said Jordan Jacobs, director of operations for Phoenix NAP.
The facility has access to 20 megawatts of power, and expects to open its meet-me room later this year, with tenant installation beginning in early 2010.
