DC Pulse: Update On Data Center Stack

Data Center Pulse has provided an update on its efforts to develop a "Data Center Stack" segmenting data center operations into seven layers, similar to the OSI Model used for network architecture.

In April we told you about the effort by Data Center Pulse to create a "Data Center Stack" segmenting data center operations into seven layers, similar to the OSI Model used to define network architecture. Data Center Pulse recently provided an update on this effort in a video featuring DCP co-founder Dean Nelson and Jeremy Rodriguez, who is organizing the development of the Stack Framework. The group's goal is to develop a standard approach to defining and measuring all components of the data center, with a target of adoption by January 1, 2010. "The Holy Grail here is that we can all have a common method of approaching our data center and the components in it, addressing them, measuring them and reporting out for them," said Nelson. This video runs about 9 minutes, 30 seconds.
