• Using Economizers to Save Energy

Fresh air cooling using air-side economizers – also known as “free cooling” – is being more widely adopted as data centers seek improved energy efficiency and lower Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) ratings. Advanced Data Centers recently hosted a meeting of the Critical Facilities Roundtable in which Peter Rumsey, the President of Rumsey Engineers, gave a presentation on the use of economizers at ADC’s LEED Platinum facility in Sacramento, Calif. ADC says its economizers are a key piece of the facility’s PUE rating of 1.12. Rumsey’s presentation spans four 10-minute videos. The first is embedded below, while Part Two, Part Three and Part Four can all be viewed on YouTube.
