Data Centers Are Hot. No, Really.

Interest in the data center industry is growing fast. How do I know? Here at Data Center Knowledge we track consumption of data center news, both on our site and around the web. In recent weeks we’ve seen a big uptick in these indicators, fueled by a number of factors – interest in cloud computing, Google’s disclosures about its data center technology, and the Oracle-Sun deal and other developments in the “Battle for the Data Center” between Cisco, IBM, Dell, HP and many others. Here are a couple factoids:

• Last Thursday was the busiest day in our history here at Data Center Knowledge with nearly 50,000 visitors, primarily due to interest in our stories about a London data center heating residential homes, the “James Bond Villain” data center in Stockholm, the McKinsey report on cloud computing and Cisco’s announcement of enhanced memory technology for its new blade server.
• The videos posted on our Our Data Center Videos channel on YouTube have been viewed more than 400,000 times in the past two weeks, largely due to interest in videos from the Google Efficient Data Center Summit.
