A Closer Look at Rear Door Cooling

Mike Gagnon provides an overview of the LiquiCool system from Vette Corp., which builds the cooling system into the rear door of a rack of data center equipment.

As temperatures inside data center racks get hotter, companies are using closely coupled cooling to manage heat loads. One example is the LiquiCool system from Vette Corp., which builds the cooling into the rear door of an equipment rack. While Sun Microsystems introduced a similar rear-door system earlier today, the IBM technology licensed by Vette has been available for several years and is running in thousands of racks. This liquid cooling unit earned bragging rights in last year's vendor "chill off" that tested the energy efficiency of vendor cooling products in the same data center environment. In this video demo from Data Center World, Vette's Mike Gagnon provides an overview of the LiquiCool system and how it works. This video runs about 6 minutes.
