Researching the Data Center Industry

Data Center Knowledge has built an archive of more than 3,000 articles. It's an information database that tells the story of the data center industry's growth and evolution since 2005, and can be useful resource for research.

On Monday I posted our 3,000th article about the data center industry to Data Center Knowledge. It's a good indicator of how activity in the data center world has accelerated, as well as the growth of our site. In compiling our daily news coverage, Data Center Knowledge has built a large archive of articles. It's an information database that tells the story of the data center industry's growth and evolution since 2005, and can be useful resource for research.

Many readers have used the DCK archives to learn about a particular company or geographic market, or to conduct investment research on trends and market niches. There are a number of ways to explore the 3,000-plus stories in our archive. Here's an overview:

  • The Search Box: Located at the top of our right-hand column, the search box provides a quick way to do keyword searches. It's powered by Google, so you can use Google's search refinement tools to narrow your search or include or exclude specific phrases.
  • Search by Company: We've written extensively about most of the public companies in the data center industry, and many of the private ones as well. To access our company channels, mouse over the "Companies" button in our top navigation, and a drop-down menu will display a list of our company channels.
  • Search by Region: We've categorized many of our stories by geography, allowing you to explore recent stories about trends and transactions in a particular city or region. Mouse over the "Cities" button in the top navigation, and and a drop-down menu will display a list of cities to choose from.
  • Search by Industry: We spend a lot of time tracking demand for space, and have developed archives tracking developments in a number of industries that are major users of data center facilities. Mouse over the "Industries" button in the top navigation, and and a drop-down menu will display a list of industries we've been tracking.

We've also built channels around specific niches. If you're doing investment research, be sure to check out our Data Center Investor channel. You can also enter a stock symbol in our search box to access our coverage of public companies. We also have custom channels for Data Center Design, Power, Cooling, Green Data Centers, Cloud Computing and Data Center Containers.

In coming months we'll continue to refine our site organization and navigation to help readers make the most of the DCK knowledge base. And we'll get busy on writing the next 3,000 stories.
