Here are some highlights from a video tour of a Google data center presented during Wednesday's Google Data Center Efficiency Summit, which showcased the company’s use of shipping containers to store servers and storage.

Google will soon be publishing videos of many of the sessions at its Google Data Center Efficiency Summit held Wednesday in Mountain View, Calif. In the meantime, here’s a sneak preview with outtakes from the video tour of a Google data center, which showcased the company’s use of shipping containers to store servers and storage. Each of these 40-foot data center containers can house up to 1,160 servers, and Google has been using them since it built this facility in late 2005. The summit was a Google event for industry engineers and executives to discuss innovations to improve data center efficiency. this video runs about 5 minutes, 45 seconds.
