We at Emerson Network Power congratulate the US EPA for driving an ENERGY STAR specification for servers and extend a special thanks to Andrew Fanara for all of his personal efforts to make this happen. We are very pleased to see that an "idle" performance requirement has been included in the specification.

Hopefully the industry will now respond by developing new servers that draw significantly less power the 90% of the time they sit at idle. Then we can truly begin to see some meaningful energy savings within the data center.
