A Look at the WordPress.com Data Center

WordPress.com has been one of the fastest-growing blog hosting services, and now houses more than 5.5 million blogs in three data centers. The newest of those is an installation with Layered Technologies in Chicago, and the folks at WordPress.com have released a brief video and blog post describing their new space and equipment. This video runs about 1 minute.

I know someone that uses Wordpress and they just had their site go down and the owner of the company that's using Wordpress said that they had to use a backup to get their site up and running again. I was wondering why they had the problem in the first place. If they had their servers properly configured, they shouldn't have websites going down having to resort to using a backup.
