Experis Data Centershas opened for business in an 81,000 square foot data center in Middletown, Virginia, about 80 miles west of Washington, D.C. Experis purchased the facility in April from AT&T, which continues as a tenant, using about a third of the building's space to provide disaster recovery services for government tenants.

“They were looking to downsize,” explained Experis managing partner Gerry Fay in a profile by NVDaily. “By buying the building, we were able to keep AT&T happy, restructure their lease and put in some tenants of our own.”

Experis has invested $25 million in retrofitting the site, including $10 million in the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems. Other upgrades were designed to enhance security, including a blast-resistant polymer coating and fire protection technology known as Citadel.

Verizon Communications and Shenandoah Telephone (Shentel) each have a Point of Presence (POP) in the building, providing access to AT&T, Embarq, Elantic, Ntelos, Sprint, Verizon Business/MCI, Fibrelight and Level 3.

Experis Data Centers is a unit of Experis Technology Group, a consultancy specializing in high-availability IT infrastructure and professional services.
