Roundup: MicroServer, Server Farms, Windmills

Here's a quick roundup of interesting data center links from the weekend:

  • In its Lilliputian Data Center Challenge, The Register profiles several "microservers" from Japan's Plat'Home, including one measuring 9 inches by 4 inches by 1.3 inches, and another at 4.5 x 3.2 x 1.5 inches.
  • The Kansas City Star ran a Saturday feature on Server Farms Becoming a Cash Crop in the Midwest, featuring Google's interest in Oklahoma and Iowa, and whether this trend helps Kansas City residents get their search results faster.
  • Remember the Fall River, Massachusetts data center project using 300-foot-high wind turbines? The Fall River Herald News has a follow-up story with an interesting wrinkle: the project backed by locals Roland Patenaude and Karen Charette includes a third partner "who runs a large Boston data center and is not ready to be named."
