Layered Tech Acquires FastServers
Layered Technologies has acquired FastServers.net, a leading Chicago–area provider specializing in dedicated servers and managed hosting. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed. Layered Technologies will now combine its grid hosting and unmanaged dedicated server offerings with FastServers.net's managed dedicated hosting operation. The combined company will have more than 6,000 customers.
The deal is the latest to see a strong regional provider acquired by a larger company or private equity firm, a trend we've seen recently in the acquisitions of Dataside, Hosted Solutions and CyrusOne.

FastServers, Inc. is a dedicated server and managed hosting provider with over 2,500 servers in operation. The company was founded in 1996 by Andrusyk and Travis Schaffner in Sumner, Iowa. FastServers.Net currently has data centers in Cedar Falls, IA, Fremont, CA and Chicago, IL offering hosting and dedicated server solutions focused on fully managed Windows and Linux Solutions. The company's Chicago servers are housed at Switch and Data.
