The Web 2.0 Summit featured a panel on “The Future of Cloud Computing” that brought together Salesforce.com CEO Mark Benioff, VMWare CEO Paul Maritz, Adobe CTO Kevin Lynch and Google Enterprise’s Dave Girouard. With Tim O’Reilly moderating, the panel discusses what cloud computing means to VMware, Adobe, Salesforce.com and Google Apps. This video runs about 11 minutes.

I participated on a similar panel at PubCon last week on behalf of my employer, SmarterTools. I have received many phone calls and emails accordingly and felt compelled to give further detail on some of my criticisms in a recent Blog post:

Some people are a bit sensitive if one does not believe that a particular solution or technology with which they are enamoured is imperfect. Cloud Computing is a major development and will have profound implications for hosting and application development. But it is important that we clearly define what it is and–perhpas more importantly–what it is not.

Be well,
Jeff Hardy
