Xbox Live is Back, Albeit A Little Late
Microsoft’s Xbox Live gaming service is back online this morning after a scheduled but lengthy maintenance outage. The service, which has more than 12 million members, was scheduled to be offline for up to 24 hours Monday before coming back online at 3 am Eastern time this morning. By 5 am gaming sites were noting that the site was still offline, with one site going so far as to report that “Xbox Live Has Failed.” The phrase “Xbox Live still down” zoomed to the top of Google Trends.
Not to worry, Xbox fans. The maintenance just ran slightly past its scheduled window. Microsoft’s Larry Hryb (better known in gaming circles by his gamertag of Major Nelson) kept users informed with updates on Twitter.
