A new data center provider in the Dallas market says it is experiencing strong growth and making plans to expand. Horizon Data Center Solutions leased 22,000 square feet of space at a Digital Realty Trust (DLR) building in Carrollton, Texas.
Since opening for business , the company says it has "several large IBM installations, some major Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementations, and the signing of three Global 250 companies and a major hospital." Horizon is already making plans to lease space for a second data center that will open later this year, followed closely by a third that will open in 2009.
Horison says it recently commissioned a $2 million private fiber ring from AboveNet that will allow the company's clients to conduct real-time replication for disaster recovery and continuity between data centers. The first two nodes of that ring went online this month.
"Our growing requirements for private, secure, reliable networks to support data replication and back-ups for our clients can best be served by having our own fiber ring that is fully redundant with diverse routes and entry points into each facility on the network," said President and CEO Lance Smith. "It offers our clients the security they demand from just one data center, and it also makes possible a variety of other services."
"When we are fully built out, the HDCS private ring will touch all our data centers, the data centers of our partners, and most major carrier hotels," said Jeff Luetzow, HDCS Technology Director, says the new fiber ring brings new possibilities to both existing and future data center clients.
