Secure hosting specialist Carpathia Hosting
said today that it has expanded its data center
in Harrisonburg, Va., adding 20,000 square feet of additional technical space.
The expansion of the Blue Ridge Data Center continues a period of growth and expansion for Virginia-based Carpathia Hosting, which continues to gain traction with federal and enterprise clientele in the Washington, D.C. and Phoenix markets. Last year Carpathia announced plans to build a large new data center in southern Virginia
(Halifax County) and also leased 25,000 square feet of space from Digital Realty Trust (DLR) in northern Virginia.
Carpathia Hosting holds a number of key certifications to support high-security federal government hosting requirements, including Department of Defense Information Technology Security Certification and Accreditation Process (DITSCAP) and SAS70 certification. The Blue Ridge Data Center was built 100 miles from Washington, D.C., well outside the 50-mile “blast zone” for mission-critical continuity in the event of a regional disaster.
The Blue Ridge Data Center was designed in partnership with DBT Development Group, Total Site Solutions and Carpathia Hosting and was designed to meet the Uptime Institute’s Tier III classification. The facility has two electrical substations on site.
“Rising utility rates and limited availability of power drove us to partner with DBT and Total Site Solutions to develop a data
center option that gives our customers an extremely competitive price point for their complex hosting requirements”, said Brent Bensten, Senior Director of Operations at Carpathia Hosting. “At the same time, we have delivered a facility that meets the strict data center standards government agencies and enterprises require including secure managed hosting and disaster recovery services.”
