$300 Million Data Center for Iceland

Iceland's efforts to establish itself as a hub for green data centers has led to plans fo a $306 million data center by Verne Holdings.

Iceland's efforts to establish itself as a hub for green data centers has brought its first major project, as Verne Holdings has announced plans for a $306 million data center near Keflav"k International Airport, the country's main airport. Verne Holdings, a joint venture by General Catalyst and Novator, said yesterday that it had signed agreements with National Energy Company Landsvirkjun, Farice and Keflav"k Airport Development Corporation (KADECO) to secure power, fiber, land and facility for the data center.

The facility is scheduled to open for business in 2009 and create about 100 jobs. Bj
