Gartner is advising IT organizations to commence cost-cutting measures, saying it is now inevitable that the slowdown in the U.S. economy will prompt belt-tightening.

Gartner is advising IT organizations to commence cost-cutting measures, saying it is now inevitable that the slowdown in the U.S. economy will prompt corporate belt-tightening. The research firm says IT departments "can expect to receive mandates from senior executives to cut IT costs as part of an enterprisewide cost-cutting program." An excerpt:
