Funding for CacheLogic, Automattic

In funding announcements, Automattic.com has raised $29.5 million and CDN provider CacheLogic has a fourth round of $25 million.

There were a couple of funding announcements this week totaling nearly $55 million, some of which could wind up being invested in infrastructure. Here are the details:

  • Automattic, the company behind the popular WordPress blogging software, has raised $29.5 million. Investors included True Ventures, Polaris Ventures, and Radar Ventures - all existing investors - as well as a strategic investment from The New York Times Company. The NYT uses WordPress to run its About.com network of information sites. Automattic's Matt Mullenweg has more.
  • CacheLogic, a content delivery network using peer-to-peer technology, has closed a fourth round of funding of $25 million. The new round was raised from previous investors, which included Amadeus Capital Partners, 3i and Pentech Ventures, acording to Rafat at PaidContent. Cambridge, UK-based CacheLogic has raised about $50 million total.
