Rackspace Rebrands to Emphasize IT

rackspace-newlogo.pngRackspace [1] is rebranding and launching a new corporate identity, dropping the “managed hosting” from its name in favor of “IT Hosting” to emphasize the company’s shift into IT infrastructure and services. The company has also announced a new virtualization initiative [2] based on VMware technology.

Rackspace said the shortening of its name reflects its shift from servers to services, “moving beyond the historical hardware focus of the web hosting industry and towards a services strategy, assembling the best technologies in the industry and delivering them as a service.”
