We’ve written previously about
Plenty of Fish [1], the one-man online dating site that manages huge traffic on a small infrastructure. Plenty of Fish owner Markus Frind has an even higher profile tonight after being featured in today’s New York Times business section in a story titled
“From 10 Hours A Week to $10 Million A Year.” [2]
While Frind has done an impressive job creating a scalable web infrastructure, he doesn’t actually host the servers in his apartment. The “Love Doctor” hosts his database server and storage array at Peer1 Networks’ data center in Vancouver, and also uses Peer1′s content delivery network. Peer1 features Plenty of Fish and Frind in a
customer profile video [3] on its web site. “The IT infrastructure Peer1 provides is paramount to my success,” Frind says in the video, in which he tours the Peer1 data center in Vancouver, as well as the spare bedroom that serves as Plenty of Fish’s headquarters.
