Startups Target Green Data Centers
Red Herring has an article looking at startup companies focused on energy efficiency in data centers, with the hook being that these companies are likely to benefit from the visibility of IBM's Big Green initiative. An excerpt:
No one really knows how big the market is for so-called green data center technologies, but corporations spend tens of billions of dollars a year on data center processors, networking gear, cabling, cooling systems and other equipment that can be made more efficient—all potential niche markets for innovative startups.Among the companies featured are Quellan, a Santa Clara, Calif. company that specializes in radio frequency products but has also developed an energy-efficient cable connector, and NetEffect, an Austin company selling low-power 10 Gigabit Ethernet adaptors.
