Google Scouting Hires for Iowa Data Center?

Google executives recently toured the University of Nebraska's Omaha campus to discuss job opportunities at a Google data center in Council Bluffs, Iowa, which is expected to be announced at a news conference tomorrow. The Nebraska trip was reported by the Des Moines Register, which said the Omaha satellite office of the university hopes to establish a relationship with Google if it sets up shop in nearby Council Bluffs. Google is actively seeking data center employees in at least 11 different geographic markets as it continues to expand its network.

Gov. Chet Culver of Iowa has schedule a press conference in Council Bluffs Tuesday morning to announce a "significant economic development project," which is expected to be a new Google data center. The 180-acre site of the Google operation will be northwest of U.S. Highway 275 and South 11th Street, according to local media.
