Los Angeles hosting provider Media Temple continues to have trouble with its grid hosting service, now called Grid-Service. Many sites hosted on Media Temple’s grid were offline for 10 hours Friday, as a storage upgrade failed and the initial attempt to roll back to a stable configuration was unsuccessful. In an update on its company blog, Media Temple said that technicians from storage vendor BlueArc struggled to upgrade the provider’s disk storage system, and it took several hours to sort out the issues. Affected sites included All Things Pakistan , LifeChurch.tv and Heroes Revealed , among others.
Media Temple’s grid server offering debuted last year to a rave review on TechCrunch , but experienced significant downtime in its early days, and more performance issues in early October of this year. The storage upgrade was part of a planned maintenance period for replacing electrical equipment at Media Temple’s EL-DC3 data center.
