SWsoft Buys Ensim Hosting Control Panel

SWsoft recently announced that it is buying the Ensim Pro hosting control panel business from Ensim Corp.

Remember the rumors that virtualization specialist SWsoft was about to make an acquisition? SWSoft announced last week that it is buying the Ensim Pro hosting automation business from Ensim Corp. for an undisclosed amount. The two companies, who competed for years in the hosting control panel business, will remain independent, and Ensim Pro will continue as a separate product.

SWsoft has been a major player in the hosting automation market with its Plesk, Confixx, HSP Complete and PEM products. The company said the acquisition of Ensim Pro will allow it to expand its Open Fusion and Application Packaging Standard (APS) interoperability initiatives. Open Fusion is designed to simplify tasks for third-party developers who offer hosting-related software, allowing them to use a consolidated application programming interface (API) to have their products included in control panels from SWsoft and other providers that support the standard.

"With our increased investment in automation, Ensim Pro customers can expect the full resources and support of SWsoft," said Serguei Beloussov, CEO, SWsoft. "By integrating Ensim Pro with other SWsoft automation and virtualization products through our OPEN FUSION platform, we will extend the benefits of standards to Ensim Pro customers."

No word yet a report in The Inquirer that speculated that SWsoft may be near a deal to buy Sphera, which provides management tools for software as a service (SaaS) applications.

SWsoft is a virtualization and automation software provider that helps businesses, and service providers optimize their use of technology. The company's software powers more than 130,000 servers and 600,000 desktops worldwide.
